Biography

George Ghanotakis holds a law degree from the University of Quebec in Montreal, and both education and philosophy degrees from the University of Toronto (B.Ed., M.A., Ph.D.). He has taught at several universities at the undergrate and graduate levels including at the University of Ottawa, the University of Toronto (OISE), the University of Alberta, The University of Lethbridge and the University of Victoria where he was the director of the Liberal Arts interdisciplinary program. He is the author of The One-Minute Philosopher, This New 21st Century Skills and Game-Based Learning: What Parents and Educators Need to Know, creator of several award winning games translated in four languages notably Apprenti-Sage, Play Wise (2017 Game of the year) and tool kits for developing critical thinking and collaborative debate in the classroom using the argument thought map PHILOS./WRATEC model adapted and used widely since 1989 as The Good Thinker’s Tool Kit in Hawaii and Europe. He currently serves as consultant to several school boards in the area of critical thinking, the teaching of ethics and educational transformation through gamification.
