Maude Bonenfant is Professor in the Department of Communication at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) and Doctor in Semiology. Her research is oriented towards the social aspects of communication and computer-based technologies, social networks, big data, online communities and gaming practices. She holds the Canada Research Chair on Big Data and Players Communities (2018-2023), she is the co-director of Laboratoire de Recherche en Médias Socionumériques et Ludification (FCI 2015-2020) and director of Homo Ludens Research Group on Gaming Practices and Communication in the Digital World. She is the author of the book Le libre jeu. Réflexion sur l’appropriation de l’activité ludique (2015, Éditions Liber) and currently conducts research in collaboration with game companies like Ubisoft Montreal (2017), Behaviour Interactive (2018-) and Classcraft (2018-).
