Robert Overell, Ph.D. is President of Foundation BioVentures LLC, which he uses as a vehicle to help and found early stage companies. Bob has spent his career in the biotech industry, and also has a passion for helping traumatized youth, as evidenced by his board service for YouthCare, a Seattle non-profit that helps homeless children get off the street and into educational, vocational and transitional housing opportunities, from 2005 to date. He was also Chairman of YouthCare from 2007-2010. He is now exploring video games as a vehicle to help traumatized youth.
Most recently, Bob was President and CEO of PhaseRx, a Seattle-based biotech developing drugs to treat children suffering from rare inherited liver diseases, which was sold to Roivant in 2018. Prior to PhaseRx, Bob was a General Partner with Frazier Healthcare Ventures, where he participated in raising over $600M of venture funds and invested over $60M in private venture-backed companies. Bob joined Immunex in 1984 and spin-out Targeted Genetics in 1992. He has served on numerous corporate boards, including Array Biopharma (ARRY) and XenoPort (XNPT). He holds a PhD in Biochemistry from University of London and a BS in Biological Sciences from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
